WHO declares COVID-19 a global pandemic

The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially declared the COVID-19 outbreak a global pandemic. This declaration comes as the virus continues to spread rapidly around the world, affecting more than 100 countries. The WHO has urged governments to take urgent and aggressive action to stop the spread of the virus.

According to the WHO, a pandemic is defined as the worldwide spread of a new disease. The last time a pandemic was declared was during the H1N1 influenza outbreak in 2009.

As of now, there have been over 100,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide, with the number of cases expected to continue rising. The WHO is continuing to work closely with countries to provide guidance on how to respond to the outbreak.
