Three men were arrested after a fight broke out during a World Cup watch party at a Downtown bar Monday night.

Boston Police officers responded to Estella Restaurant on Temple Street around 5:44 p.m, according to a police report. The restaurant was in the news earlier this year after it hosted an afterhours party for the New England Patriots, leading the establishment to have its liquor license suspended for a day.

The officers were responding to a radio call for an assist, the report said, and by the time they arrived, they knew that the restaurant was hosting a watch party for the Cape Verde vs. Spain World Cup game.

They also knew that the Transit Police had reported two parties in the bathroom, which the report noted had already led to “multiple arrests.â€

When they got to the scene, the officers saw a large crowd inside and outside the restaurant, the report said, with officers seeing two people engaging in a verbal dispute.

They officers tried to de-escalate the argument and separate the individuals.

“After being on the scene for approximately twenty minutes, and as officers were attempting to clear the scene and disperse the crowd, officers observed both parties from the earlier verbal dispute… walk in the same direction on Washington Street and re-engage in a verbal dispute,†the report said.

The suspects, 21-year-olds Kevin Mendes and Geormanie Ortiz, started to fight “in the middle of the street,†according to the report, with other people jumping in to mix.

Officers then say Victor Barbosa, 20, allegedly kick Mendes in the neck multiple times while wearing sneakers.

More officers responded and de-escalated the situation, the report said.

Both Mendes and Ortiz were charged with affray, while Barbosa faces one court of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Former mailman pleads guilty to failing to deliver mail

A former U.S. Post Office employee plead guilty in federal court for failing to deliver 14,700 pieces of mail, according to the Massachusetts U.S. Attorney's Office.

Khalea Turner, 29, of Hull, stuffed the mail in a U-Haul storage locker he rented instead of stuffing it in people's mail boxes, a statement from the office said. The practice went on for about three years between November 2022 and January 2023.

Turner was supposed to deliver mail to the neighborhoods around Boston, including in Brighton, Dorchester, Mattapan, and Fort Point, according to the U.S. Attorney. Among the undelivered mail, recovered by law enforcement in January, there were passports, jury notifications, government checks, and education and immigration paperwork.

The charge Turner pleaded guilty to, obstruction of mail, comes with a maximum sentence of six months in prison, one year of supervised release, and a fine of $5,000.

His sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
