Breaking News: Earthquake Hits Indonesia
Jakarta, Indonesia – A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia on Monday, shaking buildings in the capital Jakarta and prompting people to run into the streets.
The earthquake hit at a depth of 37 miles (59 km) and was felt in several parts of the main island of Java. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
The Indonesian meteorological agency said the earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami.
