The KO Fire located at Mile Marker 20 north of Penrose that grew to 64 acres is 100 percent contained, according an update at 9 p.m. Thursday from the Fremont County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Fremont County Sheriff's Office, Colo. 115 was reopened, and all evacuations were lifted.

On Thursday, firefighters made progress on the fire during the day, but shifting winds made it challenging and impacted fire behavior.

“No additional large air tankers have been ordered at this time. Cañon Helitack remains actively engaged in firefighting operations. Engine crews and hand crews continue working on the ground,†read a Fremont County Sheriff Facebook post Thursday afternoon.

The same post went on to note that three separate fires were initially reported, with only the largest fire remaining active near Mile Marker 20. Smaller fires located near the bottom of the hill and on O Street were extinguished.
