REPORTING LIVE FROM CORYDON JAMIE MAYES WLKY NEWS. THANK YOU. JAMIE. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAYS AT LEAST A HALF A FOOT OF RAIN FELL IN LANESVILLE IN JUST THREE HOURS. EDWARD SMITH HAS BEEN IN LANESVILLE ALL DAY. SPEAKING WITH OFFICIALS AND BUSINESS OWNERS IMPACTED BY THE FLOODS. EDWARD, WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE ON THE GROUND THERE? WE ARE HERE OFF MAIN STREET NEAR THE DOLLAR GENERAL, AND THIS IS AN AREA WHERE PEOPLE WERE ACTUALLY TRAPPED BY THE FLOOD WATERS EARLIER IN THE DAY. I'M GOING TO TAKE A STEP ASIDE. AS YOU CAN SEE, THE WATER HAS RECEDED BACK DOWN TO THE CREEK, BUT IT HAS LEFT A LOT OF DAMAGE BEHIND. THERE'S MUD. THERE'S DEBRIS FROM THE STORM OVER HERE, AND WATER IS ACTUALLY SWEPT THROUGH THIS AREA, KNOCKING ONE TRUCK OFF INTO A DITCH AND FLOODING THE BOTTOM OF BUSINESSES ACROSS THE STREET. OFFICIALS TELL US. EARLIER TODAY, RESIDENTS WERE TOLD TO GET TO THE ROOFTOPS AS THEY STARTED TO EVACUATE THE AREA SURROUNDING THIS CREEK. BECAUSE OF THE RISING WATERS. WHILE THERE HAVE BEEN NO WATER RESCUES, THERE WERE MULTIPLE CALLS TO FIRST RESPONDERS FROM PEOPLE WHO WERE SURROUNDED BY HIGH WATERS. OFFICIALS ALSO TELL US A LOT OF PROPANE TANKS IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA WERE SWEPT AWAY BY THE WATERS. WE SAW ONE THAT WAS LEAKING PROPANE INTO THE AIR. THERE WERE ALSO A NUMBER OF POWER LINES DOWN IN THE WATER. HERE'S WHAT OFFICIALS AND THOSE STUCK IN FLOOD WATERS TOLD US. I'VE BEEN THROUGH A LOT OF FLOODS IN OUR AREA. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I'VE BEEN DOING THIS NEARLY 30 YEARS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I'VE WITNESSED SOMETHING LIKE THIS MYSELF IN THIS AREA. I'M VERY FAMILIAR WITH THIS AREA, SO IT'S KIND OF A SHOCK. AND I'M SURE THAT PEOPLE WHO GOT HIT BY THAT FLASH FLOOD PRETTY QUICKLY WAS A SHOCK TO THEM, TOO. NOTIFICATIONS ON THE DASHBOARD SAID, SHUT YOUR ENGINE OFF. YOU HAVE NO OIL PRESSURE. SO I DID, AND AS WE SAT THERE, THE WATER JUST ROSE UP AROUND US, ALMOST UP TO THE MIDDLE OF THE DOORS. OFFICIALS ALSO TELL US THEY ARE FORMULATING A PLAN, WIT
