I-75 in Collier County back open after vehicle fire shut down NB lanes on Alligator Alley for hours
OCHOPEE, Fla. —
Northbound lanes on I-75 in Collier county are back open after a vehicle fire shut down the interstate at mile marker 58 for hours on Saturday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol says a semi-truck carrying lithium-ion batteries caught on fire.
All lanes traveling both northbound and southbound were temporarily closed earlier in the morning as crews worked to put out the flames. Southbound lanes opened hours later. Northbound lanes re-opened at 10:45 a.m. Saturday morning.
FDOT cameras showed miles of backups and drivers standing on the roadway as they waited for the northbound lanes to reopen.
