RICHLAND, Wash. – A man is in jail on domestic violence charges after allegedly breaking into a woman's home and trying reach her in a bedroom she had barricaded herself within before Richland police arrested him on Tuesday night.
According to the Richland Police Department, late in the night of June 2 officers responded to a reported domestic violence incident after a woman reported her ex-boyfriend was trying to break into her home. Police said they arrived to find the ex-boyfriend had successfully broken into the woman's home, and was actively forcing his way through doors inside the building to reach the woman who had barricaded herself in a bedroom.
Police said officers recognized the danger and went into the home to quickly arrest the suspect. Officers said the woman was able to leave the room in which she had barricaded herself without injury.
Richland police encouraged anyone experiencing domestic violence to seek help and call 911 they feel they are in immediate danger.
