Surprisingly, you know from start to finish, he was here Tuesday and… Saturday, he’s behind bars.”It’s unclear when Snider will be brought to Hamilton County to face additional charges in connection with the Pig Candy BBQ theft.

A Kenton County man who is accused of breaking into an East Side barbecue restaurant has been arrested after four days on the run.

Police say Pig Candy BBQ’s cameras caught 44-year-old Chad Snider sneaking into the restaurant in Cincinnati’s California neighborhood earlier this week, before proceeding to make off with several items inside.

On Saturday, Indiana State Police arrested him in Dearborn County, where he is accused of being in possession of a hypodermic needle. Additional details about the arrest were not immediately clear.

On Tuesday, the restaurant caught Snider’s brazen theft attempt on camera. So did their cook, Hayley Beusterien.

“I see over to my right he’s in our tool shed, he’s over there smoking a cigarette just going through it,” Beusterien said. “And I confront him, and he tells me he’s with ‘the people?'”

Before he went inside, Snider threw on a sharp-dressed disguise — a white collared shirt and a vest. He could also be seen lighting up a cigarette right next to their meat smoker, claiming to be with the local health department.

“The cig gave it away,” Beusterien said. “I’m like, you’re not with any type of department if you’re in our restaurant smoking a cigarette.”

After the confrontation, Beusterien says that she locked a door within the restaurant and called for help.

“I was nervous because there was some strange man out here that I don’t know,” she recounted.

Meanwhile as she did so, Snider slipped out carrying power tools and kitchen supplies that the restaurant says are worth a few hundred dollars.

“I thought that maybe he had dressed up because he was trying to play some kind of part, because he was claiming to be with poison control,” Beusterien said.

“Maybe he had some other outfits that helped him get across borders,” co-owner Christina Goehrig added.

Pig Candy BBQ says that they are not worried about the tools.

“They haven’t told us yet if we’re getting those back, but I think we’ll live,” Goehrig said.

Instead, they say that they’re putting the barbecue bandit behind them and focusing on the Memorial Day menu ahead.

“It’s on a Monday, so of course it’s ribs,” Goehrig said of the menu. “Back to making barbecue, and posting our specials on social media instead of — this drama that you know, actually didn’t last that long. Surprisingly, you know from start to finish, he was here Tuesday and… Saturday, he’s behind bars.”

It’s unclear when Snider will be brought to Hamilton County to face additional charges in connection with the Pig Candy BBQ theft.
