The United Nations has called for an immediate global ceasefire in all corners of the world to focus on the COVID-19 pandemic.
Secretary-General António Guterres said, “It is time to put armed conflict on lockdown and focus together on the true fight of our lives.”
He emphasized that the most vulnerable — women and children, people with disabilities, the marginalized and displaced — pay the highest price in conflict.
Guterres urged all parties to conflict to lay down their weapons and work for peace.
