The public is invited to celebrate the U.S. Army's 251st birthday at Army Community Day, taking place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, June 12, on the grounds of Fort DeRussy in Waikiki.

The event honors the dedication, resilience and spirit of service of generations of soldiers who fought for the United States before the nation was founded, according to a news release, and offers the public the opportunity to connect with soldiers of the U.S. Army Pacific and view displays of tactical vehicles, combat aircraft, drones and other Army systems.

A highlight of the event is the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, which has been used by the Army for several years and gained attention during the Ukraine-Russia war and during Operation Epic Fury in the Middle East.

In addition, the 25th Infantry Division's Combat Aviation Brigade will land UH-60 Black Hawk and AH-64 Apache helicopters on Kuroda Field, which will be accessible to the public. The Army issued a noise advisory to Waikiki residents and businesses on Thursday as low-flying military helicopters will land at approximately 7:30 a.m. and takeoff around 3 p.m. at Fort DeRussy Park on Friday.

At 4 p.m. between the U.S. Army Museum and Hale Koa Hotel, the “Mana O Ke Koa†or “Spirit of the Warrior,†a community service award, will be awarded to an individual who has shown unparalleled support for soldiers and family members. Past recipients have included elected officials, legislators, business and industry leaders, school officials and others.

An official swearing-in of future soldiers, displays from veteran organizations, food trucks, as well as a performance by the 25th Infantry Division's Tropic Lightning Band will also mark the day. There will also be free entry to the U.S. Army Museum.

Parking will be available in designated lots.
