COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign Begins in Indonesia

The long-awaited COVID-19 vaccination campaign has officially begun in Indonesia. The first doses of the vaccine were administered to healthcare workers and other front-line workers across the country.

President Joko Widodo received the first dose of the vaccine to demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine. He urged all eligible citizens to get vaccinated to help control the spread of the virus and protect public health.

The government aims to vaccinate around 181.5 million people, or about 70% of the population, to achieve herd immunity. The vaccination campaign is expected to be rolled out in three phases, prioritizing healthcare workers, public officials, and the elderly.

Health officials stress the importance of continuing to follow health protocols, such as wearing masks and practicing social distancing, even after receiving the vaccine. They emphasize that the vaccine is just one tool in the fight against the pandemic.
