Iran Executes Two Gay Teenagers
Iran has recently executed two gay teenagers, according to human rights activists.
The two boys, aged 17 and 18, were convicted of “perversion” and “harassing public order” in separate cases. They were hanged in a prison in the southwestern city of Ahvaz last week.
Iran’s penal code allows for the execution of boys from the age of 15 and girls from the age of 9, if they are deemed to have reached “bulugh,” or puberty.
Homosexuality is illegal in Iran and is punishable by death.
