The Bulloch NAACP and the Willow Hill Heritage and Renaissance Center will host a community Juneteenth celebration on June 19, 2026, at 6 p.m. at Willow Hill in Portal, bringing neighbors together to honor the history, freedom, and cultural legacy that Juneteenth represents.

The Bulloch County community is preparing to gather for a meaningful celebration of freedom, heritage, and unity as the 2026 Juneteenth Celebration approaches.

Hosted by the Bulloch NAACP in partnership with the Willow Hill Heritage and Renaissance Center, this year's event will take place on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the Willow Hill Heritage and Renaissance Center, located at 4235 Willow Hill Road in Portal, Georgia.

Juneteenth is recognized as the oldest national commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. It marks the moment in 1865 when freedom finally reached the last enslaved people in Texas, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This gathering invites the community to honor that history while celebrating the resilience, creativity, and cultural contributions of Black Americans.

Bulloch County NAACP President Yevette McCall is looking forward to the event.

“We are honored to collaborate with Willow Hill again this year to bring another Juneteenth Commemoration event, especially this year because we can all use more education and enjoyment,†she says. “Although this event focuses on an extremely hard part of history, it is still history and it’s very important it be recognized.â€

Attendees can look forward to an evening filled with music, food, fellowship, and storytelling, all designed to uplift the spirit of freedom and highlight the ongoing work toward equality. The event's theme, “Honoring Black Freedom, Culture, and Excellence,†reflects its purpose: to remember, reflect, and rejoice together. McCall would like to extend an invite to the community to socialize, learn, reflect, and remember.

“All the food and education will be free. Please come out and embrace everything Willow Hill has to offer,†she said.
