The 10th annual Hawaii on the Hill brought a taste of the islands to Washington, D.C., with more than 100 local businesses participating in this year's event. Lawmakers including Mazie Hirono, Cory Booker and Chuck Schumer joined in celebrating Hawaii's culture, cuisine and innovation.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Island News) — The 10th anniversary Hawaii on the Hill event was held this week in Capitol Hill, with hundreds turning out tonight for Taste of Hawaii on the Hill.

There was a huge helping of aloha on the menu, and how can you go wrong with mini spam musubis?

U.S. Senator Cory Booker from New Jersey was rubbing shoulders with the Hawaii delegation, including Senator Mazie Hirono. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was also there to see how much Hawaii on the Hill has grown.

This year more than 100 companies from the Aloha State were represented.

“For the participants, you can’t beat the environment, the atmosphere, feeling the aloha spirit,” said Sherry Menor, President and CEO of Chamber of Commerce Hawaii. “You go into that room and you see everyone smiling, being able to have a taste of Hawaii in D.C. So, it is really an exciting venture and we will continue to do it and i am sure it is going to grow year after year.”

The four-day event wrapped up on Wednesday night, which included lei draping, tech discussions and an agricultural industry tour just to name a few of the events.
