The Assumption Greek Orthodox Church on Ormsby Lane is hosting its 101st annual Greek Festival this weekend, celebrating Greek food, culture, and tradition. The festival begins Friday night at 6 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m., resuming Saturday at 11 a.m. Attendees can enjoy Greek food, dancing, storytelling, and music, with all the festival favorites returning. “The idea of Greek Festival here in Louisville is we bring a taste of Greece to you. You don't have to go to Greece, you can come here, taste the food, see the live dancing, and listen to our music,” said Aliki Vasiliki, a representative of the Greek Festival. For most of the last decade, the church has been working toward building a new Hellenic community center, which is almost complete. All money raised during the festival will go toward finishing the center, with hopes that it could be completed as soon as this fall. Greek Fest has been held at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church since 2015 and is free to attend.
