Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council (SEMAC) invites individual artists and culture bearers in their 11-county region to attend an in-person grant workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. June 16 at Mainspring, 404 E Main Street, Caledonia. This event is free and open to all. Registration is encouraged and can be found at semac.org/workshops.
Join SEMAC staff members for an overview of SEMAC's grant programs and professional development opportunities. They will also discuss the process of applying for a Project Support for Individual Artists and Culture Bearers grant, share helpful tips and resources beyond what SEMAC offers, and make time for conversation and connection. Light refreshments will be served. This event is in-person only and will not be recorded.
To help applicants prepare strong applications, in addition to the in-person workshop, SEMAC will make available a step-by-step video on July 1 of the application process for the Project Support for Individual Artists and Culture Bearers grant, which is due July 28, and will hold three virtual Q & A sessions to be held from noon to 1 p.m. July 8, from 6 to 7 p.m. July 16 and from noon to 1 p.m. July 24.
SEMAC also offers free grant writing assistance for artists and culture bearers in Hmong, Somali and Spanish for non-English speakers or people with limited English. These services are made possible through partnerships with Project FINE and the Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association (IMAA).
