DW and Indonesia’s leading OTT platform Vidio today launched “The Scene – Living and Lifestyle in Southeast Asia,” a new series exploring youth culture, identity and everyday life across the region.

Aimed at metropolitan viewers aged 20–35, the 10-part video-on-demand series follows how young people across Southeast Asia live, work, date, and express themselves, highlighting the cultural, social and economic contexts that shape their everyday choices.

The Scene marks DW's first regional OTT lifestyle format, connecting audiences across 11 countries through a shared narrative space. Each 15-minute episode explores a distinct theme – from fashion, food and beauty to travel, architecture, and modern relationships – drawing together perspectives from three Southeast Asian countries to examine the cross-cultural trends, debates, and lived experiences shaping contemporary youth culture.

Jochen Rosenkranz, DW Director of Culture and Sports, and Debarati Guha, DW Director of Programs for Asia, said: “The project reflects DW's commitment to public value storytelling through contemporary formats that combine lifestyle relevance with journalistic depth. The Scene connects young audiences across Southeast Asia by highlighting shared experiences alongside regional differences, encouraging cross-border dialogue, while also exploring how lifestyle trends are shaped by social, cultural, and economic contexts. Season 1 has shown strong potential and provides a foundation for further refining the format and strengthening it as a distinct regional brand.”

Dhini W Prayogo, SVP Content Acquisition & Partnership Vidio, added: “DW has been a valued long-time partner for Vidio, and we are proud to continue strengthening this collaboration through The Scene. The series brings fresh, culturally relevant storytelling that resonates strongly with today's young audiences in Southeast Asia. We are excited to make The Scene available on Vidio and provide viewers with content that is not only entertaining, but also reflective of the diverse lifestyles, perspectives, and conversations shaping the region today.”

Produced in English and Indonesian, Season 1 of The Scene is now streaming in Indonesian on Vidio, hosted by Sara Wayne. Additional social-first content fronted by Adelia Dinda Sani is rolling out across digital platforms as part of a broader multiplatform strategy to expand the series’ reach among young audiences across Southeast Asia.

Daniel Vogelgesang and Saranyaa Sreenivasan, DW Distribution Asia: “With The Scene, we wanted to move beyond trend-driven lifestyle content and focus on the realities, aspirations and cultural dynamics shaping young people across Southeast Asia, By combining journalistic depth with a highly visual, OTT-first storytelling approach, we aim to create content that is both engaging and meaningful for today's digital audiences.”
