“Producers from Minho and Galicia come together in a grand celebration of cross-border wine identity, valuing the common territory, culture, gastronomy, and heritage,†the organisers of the initiative, which takes place in that municipality in the Viana do Castelo district, describe in a statement.
More than a wine showcase, the event aims to establish itself “as a privileged meeting space for producers, industry professionals, researchers, institutions, and wine enthusiasts, promoting dialogue, cooperation, and the internationalisation of Vinhos do Atlântico.â€
The 3rd edition of Vinhos do Atlântico – Festa da Ribeira Minho will take place on June 5th and 6th and will host the forum “Vinhos do Atlântico – Diálogos de Fronteira†(Atlantic Wines – Border Dialogues).
“This forum will constitute a strategic space for reflection and debate, aiming to foster cooperation in the cross-border wine sector and contribute to the construction of a shared vision oriented towards the valorisation, differentiation and internationalisation of Atlantic-influenced wines from Northwest Iberia,†describes the organisation.
The round table dedicated to Portugal-Galicia cooperation in the wine sector will seek to reflect “on the possibilities of institutional and promotional cooperation between the Atlantic-influenced ‘terroirs' of Northwest Iberia†and on “the valorisation of native grape varieties and territorial identities.â€
The program also aims to discuss “the potential international positioning of Atlantic wines from Northwest Iberia and the creation of joint strategies capable of strengthening the competitiveness and reputation of this cross-border ‘terroir'â€.
The program also includes Atlantic Harmonies: Tasting with Knowledge, “a moment of dialogue between oenologists, historians and gastronomes, exploring how history, climate and traditions shape what we bring to the glass and the plateâ€.
There is also a route of wine experiences in emblematic locations of the Valença Fortress, in guided tour format, starting at the Valença Municipal Archive, passing through the Interpretation Centre of the Fortified Border Fortresses (CIFAR) – Paiol do Açougue, the Interpretation Centre of Castles and Fortresses – Paiol do Campo de Marte and the Municipal Garden.
