A new study has found that regular exercise can improve brain function in older adults. The research, published in the Journal of Aging and Physical Activity, showed that participants who engaged in regular physical activity experienced improvements in cognitive function, such as memory and processing speed. The study suggests that staying active can help older adults maintain their cognitive abilities as they age.

Lead researcher Dr. Sarah Smith stated, “Our findings highlight the important role that exercise can play in maintaining cognitive function as we age. It’s never too late to start exercising, and even small amounts can make a big difference in brain health.”

The study involved over 500 adults aged 65 and older who were divided into two groups: one that participated in regular exercise and one that did not. Those in the exercise group engaged in activities such as walking, cycling, and strength training, while the control group maintained their regular level of activity. After six months, the exercise group showed significant improvements in cognitive function compared to the control group.
