World Health Organization Declares COVID-19 a Global Pandemic
The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially declared the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) a global pandemic.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made the announcement during a press conference on Wednesday, stating that the organization is deeply concerned by the alarming levels of spread and severity of the virus.
The declaration of a pandemic indicates that the virus is now spreading widely on a global scale, affecting a large number of people across multiple countries simultaneously.
As of now, there have been over 100,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide, with the number continuing to rise rapidly.
The WHO has called on countries to take urgent and aggressive action to control the spread of the virus and protect their populations.
