Seoul, South Korea – Kim Jong Un has been re-elected as the leader of North Korea. The Supreme People’s Assembly unanimously voted for Kim to remain in power for another term. This move solidifies Kim’s position as the ruler of North Korea for the foreseeable future.
Kim was the only candidate on the ballot, and all 687 members of the Supreme People’s Assembly voted for him to continue leading the country. This re-election comes amidst ongoing tensions with South Korea and the United States over North Korea’s nuclear program.
Kim Jong Un has been in power since 2011, following the death of his father, Kim Jong Il. He is known for his authoritarian rule and strict control over the country. Many international leaders have criticized Kim’s human rights record and his aggressive military actions.
