Prince Harry found himself in the middle of a championship celebration on Saturday night, June 13, as the New York Knicks ended a 53-year title drought with a Game 5 victory over the San Antonio Spurs. The Duke of Sussex was among a star-studded crowd inside Frost Bank Center as New York closed out the 2026 NBA Finals, joining a celebrity contingent that included Sydney Sweeney and Timothée Chalamet for one of the biggest nights in franchise history.
According to People, the Invictus Games founder was already in San Antonio for the 2026 Warrior Games and attended the Finals after receiving an invitation from NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. The royal arrived alongside U.S. Army veteran JP Lane, who is scheduled to compete in next year’s Invictus Games in the United Kingdom.
Since relocating to California with Meghan Markle in 2020, the Duke has become a familiar face at major American sporting events, including the Super Bowl, World Series, and NBA All-Star Weekend.
The real story, however, belonged to the Knicks. New York entered the season carrying enormous expectations after owner James Dolan declared in January, “I’d say we want to get to the Finals, and we should win the Finals.” At the time, the statement drew skepticism around the league. Five months later, it looked prophetic.
Led by Finals MVP Jalen Brunson, the Knicks completed a remarkable postseason run that validated several controversial decisions.
