Breaking News: Rich Seeley Out as Ontario Reign General Manager, Joins Canucks

This summer's offseason reshaping of the LA Kings organization continues, and it now extends to AHL Ontario. Late Thursday evening, it was announced Reign General Manager Rich Seeley has moved on to the Canucks organization.

It comes as a little bit of a surprise, if for no other reason than Seeley's long ties to the LA franchise. Originally selected by the Kings in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft (sixth round), he went on to play over 300 games in the Kings system and served as captain of AHL Manchester for two seasons.

He later spent time behind the bench, coming with a three-year run as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations when the Monarchs transitioned to an ECHL affiliate. The high water mark of that era came when he guided the team to an Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 2017.

More recently, Seeley was General Manager of the Reign for eight seasons. Now, the British Columbia native will be back in the Pacific Northwest.

No word yet on what direction Ontario will go when it comes to filling the vacancy this creates. More to come.
