WANA (Jun 11) – In the early hours of Thursday, following the start of U.S. military strikes on targets in southern Iran, the ceasefire between Iran and the United States effectively came to an end, marking a new phase in the direct confrontation between the two sides.

As multiple explosions were reported across Hormozgan Province, air defense systems were activated, and significant military activity was observed on land, at sea, and in the air throughout the region.

While the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the launch of military operations against Iran, the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran also entered an operational state and began taking countermeasures.

At the same time, the Strait of Hormuz—the world's most important energy transit route—was declared closed, and serious warnings were issued regarding any maritime traffic in the area.

Widespread Explosions in Southern Iran

According to local reports, beginning around 12:45 a.m., multiple explosions were heard in various parts of Hormozgan Province, including Qeshm, Sirik, Bandar Abbas, and Minab.

Air defense systems were activated in several locations, and local sources reported multiple waves of explosions in both the western and eastern areas of Bandar Abbas.

U.S. Military Operation Against Iran Begins

A senior U.S. official, along with the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), announced that military operations targeting locations in southern Iran had commenced. Reports indicate that the initial strikes focused on areas surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and Hormozgan Province.

Clashes in the Persian Gulf and Iranian Response

Simultaneously with the U.S. strikes, local sources reported sounds consistent with naval engagements in the waters of the Persian Gulf. There have also been reports of Iranian missile launches toward hostile targets and the initiation of retaliatory operations by the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran's Air Defense Response to Airspace Violations

The Public Relations Office of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that an F-16 fighter jet, after entering the airspace over the Persian Gulf, was engaged by an IRGC air defense system and subsequently left the area.

Complete Closure of the Strait of Hormuz

In an official statement, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced that the Strait of Hormuz is now closed to all vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships. The statement warned that any transit through this strategic waterway would be met with a military response.

Two Violating Oil Tankers Reportedly Hit

The IRGC Navy also announced that two oil tankers allegedly attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz in violation of the closure order had been struck.

Reports of Attacks on U.S. Naval Vessels

Regional sources reported missile and drone attacks by Iranian armed forces against U.S. military vessels near the Strait of Hormuz. Preliminary reports have also suggested that at least one American warship may have sustained damage.

Warning to Countries Participating in Operations Against Iran

Iranian security sources emphasized that all military movements by the United States and its allies in the region are under close surveillance and warned that any direct participation in operations against the Islamic Republic of Iran would receive a proportional response.

Trump Claims End of Operations and Iran's Response

U.S. President Donald Trump told Fox News that military operations against Iran would soon end, claiming that Iranian officials had asked him to stop the attacks. He also alleged that 49 Tomahawk missiles were fired at targets in Iran and that U.S. fighter jets were operating in Iranian airspace.

Trump said Israel had no role in the strikes and warned that further attacks could follow if Iran does not agree to a deal with Washington.

In response, Iranian state media described Trump's claims, including any contact with Iranian officials, as “completely false,†calling them an attempt to justify the current situation.

Satellite Images Indicate Halt in Traffic Through the Strait of Hormuz

Satellite monitoring appears to show no vessel traffic moving through the Strait of Hormuz following warnings by Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters and the IRGC Navy about a potential full closure of the strategic waterway.

Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed minutes ago that the Strait of Hormuz remains open.

Drone Strike on the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain

The Iranian Army has announced a drone strike targeting the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. According to an official statement, the operation was carried out in response to U.S. attacks on areas in southern Iran. Communication antennas and radar facilities associated with the Patriot air defense system were reportedly among the targets.

18 U.S. Targets Came Under Fire

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that 18 targets belonging to the U.S. military at Ali Al Salem, Ahmad Al Jaber, and Sheikh Isa bases were struck in two separate waves of operations.

Meanwhile, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced that the Iranian Armed Forces' response to U.S. attacks would continue, adding that Washington's halt of attacks on certain areas in southern Iran was a direct result of Iran's military response.
