Fort Myers breaks record high temperature Monday
FORT MYERS, Fla. —
Fort Myers reached a high temperature of 98 degrees Monday, breaking the previous daily record of 97 degrees on June 8 that was set in 1985.
Dew points were only in the upper 50s during the time of the recording, which is relatively low for the Gulf Coast in early June.
The drier air allowed for more efficient daytime heating, enabling temperatures to rise higher than we would typically expect this time of year despite the strong June sun.
