For generations, Palm Springs has inspired artists, dreamers, and innovators. From its deep Indigenous roots and early art colony days to its celebrated modernist legacy and contemporary creative scene, culture has always been woven into the fabric of this desert city. In June, a new event aims to bring those threads together in one vibrant celebration.
From June 11–22, the inaugural XOXO Palm Springs festival will transform the city into a 12-day showcase of art, culture, music, film, design, performance, and innovation. Taking place across theaters, museums, galleries, parks, hotels, and cultural venues throughout Palm Springs, the festival invites residents and visitors alike to experience the destination through a fresh creative lens.
The idea grew out of conversations among local arts organizations and city leaders who recognized just how remarkable Palm Springs' cultural landscape has become. As Palm Springs City Councilmember Jeffrey Bernstein notes, the city is home to an extraordinary concentration of creative institutions and experiences for a community of fewer than 50,000 permanent residents. Museums, galleries, theaters, film festivals, symphonies, dance companies, live music venues, and cultural events contribute to a scene that rivals much larger destinations.
“Palm Springs has an incredibly vibrant arts and culture community that doesn't always get full recognition,†Bernstein says. “As a city, we more than pull our weight in arts and culture, and we always have.â€
