WE START WITH K-E-T-V NEWSWATCH SEVEN'S BILL SCHAMMERT, WHO IS JUST BEHIND THE POLICE TAPE TONIGHT. BILL PHYLLIS SAYING. GOOD EVENING JULIE. LET'S GET TO THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS FIRST. I JUST TALKED TO PAPILLION POLICE CHIEF CHRIS WYNOT, AND HE TELLS ME THERE WAS AN OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING AT THE HOME DEPOT BEHIND ME. THE SUSPECT WAS INJURED AND TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. NO OFFICERS AND NO BYSTANDERS WERE INJURED IN THAT GUNFIRE. THE FOCUS, WITNESSES TELL ME, IS ON THIS RED VEHICLE. IT STARTED AS A CHASE. WE ACTUALLY HAD VIDEO GIVEN TO US BY PEOPLE WHO WERE NEARBY WHEN THIS ALL HAPPENED. YOU CAN SEE THOSE VEHICLES GOING EASTBOUND ON SIXTH STREET. THAT RED VEHICLE, FOLLOWED BY SEVERAL SQUAD CARS. AND THEN IT TURNS INTO THE HOME DEPOT. WE DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THIS POLICE CHASE STARTED. WE'RE HOPING TO LEARN THAT INFORMATION WHEN THE CHIEF TALKS TO US HERE IN A FEW MINUTES. WE HOPE. BUT YOU CAN SEE THAT GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE HOME DEPOT PARKING LOT AND ENDS WITH THAT RED CAR CRASHED RIGHT NEXT TO THE CONTRACTOR PICKUP SIGN. WE TALKED TO A COUPLE WITNESSES WHO WERE NEARBY, AND THEY DESCRIBED WHAT THEY SAW. I WAS JUST ABOUT TO LEAVE AND I WAS TAKING A VIDEO. I WAS LIKE, OH, THE COPS ARE. AND THEN I TURNED AROUND AND THERE WAS LIKE 50 COPS. AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I WATCHED HIM LIKE, FLY OVER THE HILL AND THEN CRASHED INTO HOME DEPOT. AND THEN LIKE SECONDS LATER, SHOTS WERE FIRED. AND THEN LIKE A TON OF MORE COPS CAME IN AND THEN PEOPLE WERE RUNNING OVER HERE. I WATCHED PEOPLE RUNNING FROM JUST STOP SCREAMING, CRYING. IT WAS IT WAS CRAZY. TERRIFIED. REALLY, REALLY SCARED. LIKE I'VE BEEN I'VE LIVED OUT HERE FOR LIKE 16, 17 YEARS AND I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE. IT'S CRAZY. SO JULIE, THIS IS OBVIOUSLY STILL A VERY ACTIVE SCENE. CAUTION TAPE BEHIND ME THAT HOME DEPOT IS BLOCKED OFF THE TARGET TO THE NORTH. IT DOES. IT IS OPEN. THAT'S ALSO GOING TO BE THE MEDIA STAGING AREA. THAT'S WHERE THE INTERVIEW WILL TAKE PLACE. WHEN WE HEAR FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT, HOPEFULLY IN THE NEXT 15 MINUTES, HALF AN HOUR OR SO. BUT AGAIN, WE HAVE AN OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING. THE SUSPECT WAS HIT AND INJURED, TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL, NO POLICE
