A new series of art talks is inviting audiences to delve into the meaning and stories behind artworks.

The series will launch on Thursday, May 28, at Messums West in Tisbury, with the first talk titled Not So Silent! Exploring Places of Delight, led by art historian Sara Radice.

Ms Radice said: “I hope this first lecture will appeal to anyone who has an interest in looking at beautiful things and the storytelling that is at the heart of European culture.”

The talk will explore art throughout history, drawing connections between works and examining how artists communicate through materials and context.

The event takes place in the tithe barn and is partly inspired by Messums' immersive Forest Cathedral installation by artist Andrew Amondson, which transforms the space into a ‘living forest of light and sound’.

Johnny Messum, director of Messums West, said: “I am delighted that we will be holding a series of art talks in the Barn at Messums West as part of our after-hours membership.”

Not So Silent! Exploring Places of Delight runs from 6pm to 7pm.

Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £8 for children, with a pay-what-you-feel option starting at £10 for adults and £4 for children.
