Echoes of Aincrad has unveiled a new trailer detailing the mechanics of the upcoming game — watch it below.
The seven-minute trailer for the game — which takes place in the Sword Art Online anime universe — reveals how the character creator is set up, how the combat works, and more.
In the opening moments of the trailer, the character creator reveals that everything from skin color to an enormous number of hairstyles can be tweaked in the builder. For anyone who’s ever wished to have their own story in the SAO universe, it appears that this is the game to finally make that happen.
A large part of the trailer is devoted to going in-depth about the mechanics of combat, which appears to be a big part of the game. Your created character can use a wide variety of weapons, like different kinds of swords and axes, and fight against monsters in a real-time combat system with multiple modes.
In a fairly meta move, there’s also crafting, a money system, and means to upgrade and mod your gear — which makes sense because, again, this is SAO, and the characters are literally in a videogame.

According to the official game description, Echoes of Aincrad will let players “enter a virtual world to experience a life-or-death adventure themselves.”
Bandai Namco announced Echoes of Aincrad back in March with a reveal trailer and synopsis that said: “What seemed to be a dream adventure has now become a fight for survival.”
