COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign Begins in Indonesia

The government of Indonesia has officially launched its nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign. The campaign aims to vaccinate around 181.5 million people, or approximately 70% of the country’s population, in order to achieve herd immunity against the coronavirus.

Healthcare workers, public officials, and the elderly will be the first to receive the vaccine. The government has stated that the vaccine will be provided free of charge to all citizens.

President Joko Widodo received the first dose of the vaccine to demonstrate its safety and efficacy. He urged all citizens to participate in the vaccination program to protect themselves and their communities.

Indonesia has secured vaccines from several different manufacturers, including Sinovac, AstraZeneca, and Pfizer. The government aims to vaccinate two-thirds of the population by the end of 2021.

The vaccination campaign is a crucial step in controlling the spread of COVID-19 and reviving the country’s economy, which has been heavily impacted by the pandemic.
