VICKSBURG, Mississipi (VDN) – National Park Service Announces New Superintendent for Vicksburg National Military Park

Treacy Stone has been selected as the new superintendent of Vicksburg National Military Park, as announced by the National Park Service. Stone will assume his new role in June.

“As a native of Alabama, it is especially meaningful to return to the Mississippi River Delta and serve at a place as significant as Vicksburg National Military Park,” said Superintendent Treacy Stone. “Throughout my career, I have seen the power of strong partnerships and dedicated teams in protecting our nation’s treasured places. I am honored to join this community and look forward to working together to preserve the park’s history, support our staff and welcome visitors around the world.”

Stone brings extensive operational and leadership experience from several major national parks, including five years serving as Chief of Facility Management and Engineering at Grand Canyon National Park. He also previously held the position of Chief of Maintenance at Zion National Park.

Having started his NPS career in 2015 at Yosemite National Park, Stone has overseen complex programs, large workforces, and multimillion-dollar budgets. He has also built strong partnerships with community groups, local governments, and regional organizations.

Prior to joining the National Park Service, Stone served for 20 years as an officer in the U.S. Navy’s Civil Engineer Corps.

Stone holds a graduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and an undergraduate degree from Tulane University in New Orleans.

As a native of Alabama, Stone is looking forward to returning to the Mississippi River Delta. He will be moving from Grand Canyon, Arizona to the Vicksburg area with his wife, Wendi.
