WHO Warns of Potential COVID-19 Resurgence
The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning about the potential for a resurgence of COVID-19 cases around the world. Despite progress in vaccination efforts, the organization cautions that countries should not let their guard down.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated, “We are on the verge of a moral failure if we do not do more to ensure equitable access to vaccines.”
As new variants of the virus continue to emerge, experts are concerned that relaxation of public health measures could lead to a rise in infections. The WHO urges governments to maintain vigilance and prioritize public health in order to prevent another wave of the pandemic.
