Seoul, South Korea — The Korean government announced a new policy to reduce plastic waste in the country. Starting next year, single-use plastic bags will be banned in major supermarkets and stores. This initiative aims to encourage the use of reusable bags and reduce the environmental impact of plastic waste.
Additionally, the government plans to introduce a deposit-refund system for plastic beverage containers to promote recycling. Consumers will be able to return empty bottles and cans to designated recycling centers in exchange for a refund.
South Korea is taking steps to address the growing issue of plastic pollution and promote sustainable practices. The government hopes that these new policies will help reduce plastic waste and protect the environment for future generations.
