WHO Press Conference on Coronavirus Disease Outbreak
The World Health Organization (WHO) held a press conference today to address the current outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus emphasized the importance of international cooperation in responding to the global crisis. He urged countries to work together to contain the spread of the virus and protect vulnerable populations.
Dr. Tedros also announced that WHO will be sending a team of experts to China to assess the situation on the ground and provide support. He stressed the need for accurate information and transparency in order to effectively combat the outbreak.
As of now, there have been over 42,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide, with the majority in China. However, the virus has spread to over 25 countries, prompting concerns about the potential for a pandemic.
WHO continues to work closely with health officials around the world to monitor the situation and provide guidance on prevention and control measures. The organization is calling for swift action to contain the virus and prevent further spread.
